As you may have heard there will be a very special astronomical event taking place this coming Monday (the 21st). Here in Montreal we will be experiencing a partial solar eclipse. The RASC Montreal Centre will be observing this event along with the John Abbott College Astronomy Club on the JAC Campus in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. The location will be the “Oval” which is in front of the main building. Follow the signs for the Herzberg Building. There is limited parking on the campus. Street parking is available or public transit.
The solar eclipse starts at 1:21 with partial totality (58%) at 2:38 and the finish at 3:50.
In all cases no matter where you observe this event make sure you NEVER look at the sun without certified solar glasses. DO NOT use welder glasses or pieces of photographic film. THEY ARE NOT SAFE!!!
