The IKW Lunar Observing Group

OUR FIRST MEETING

The IKW Lunar Observing Group had its first meeting on Wednesday, September 27th. Members were greeted by a 5-day old Moon, thinly veiled by clouds and slowly moving towards the horizon. Quickly telescopes were set up on the roundabout of Belvedere Circle and we got a solid hour of observing done.

This image of the 5-day old Moon was taken by Bettina Forget by holding her Pentax Optio S40 digital camera over her telescope's eyepiece. Not a "picture of the month", but it gives a good impression of the Moon's major features at this phase.
