Freaky Friday at the the Redpath Museum
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sputnik's launch into orbit, the Redpath Museum held a presentation called "Sputnik and Us - 50 Years in Space" as part of their "Freaky Friday" series. The RASC Montreal Centre was invited to help the celebrations along with an info table and some solar observing. The Canadian Space Agency even brought in some samples of Moon rock for everyone to look at.
Astronomy Day 2007 - Take 2!
The Astro League tried something new this year: for the first time, there were two Astronomy Days in the same year. Again we headed out to the Chapters bookstore in Pointe-Claire and set up our information tables, telescope displays, and held hourly lectures. What made this event special was the participation of the Canadian Space Agency, who partnered with us for our event. The CSA also gave hourly lectures and had their own info-table with free starfinders and other goodies. We had about 2,000 visitors that day - another successful event!
Astronomy Day 2007
This was the third year the Montreal Centre hosted its Astronomy Day activities at the Chapters bookstore in Pointe-Claire. This year we had even more diplay and lecture space, and for the first time a kid's table in the children's books corner. We were also very lucky to have clear skies and mild temperatures for our stargazing activities in the evening. Another great success!

Star-B-Q 2006
Chris Novak kindly hosted the Montreal Center's annual Star-B-Q, which also served as the First Light ceremony of the Centre's new Meade LX200R telescope, a generous gift of the Meade Corporation and David and Wendee Levy. A clear, warm summer night provided members with beautiful views of M13, M57, Jupiter and the Moon.

The Centre
at the Cirque (2005)
Guy Laliberté
certainly knows how to throw a party! For his birthday he invited a few hundred
of his closest friends - and the RASC Montreal Centre - for Spica, his
celestial-themed party. Mark Bratton, Mina Reyes, Daniel Biron and Bettina Forget
brought their telescopes and showed the night sky to the guests.
