Autumn and early winter are the best time to view aurorae borealis (or Northern Lights, as they are also called). After giving a tour of autumn's night skies, Andrew Fazekas will focus on aurorae and explain what causes them, and how to best observe them.

 


 
About the Speaker
Andrew Fazekas is a freelance science communicator based in Montreal, Canada. He specializes in the natural sciences, writing and lecturing about everything from astronomy to zoology. Andrew is currently the astronomy contributer at the Montreal Gazette introducing the wonders of the night sky to people of all ages. He also serves as Canadian correspondent at Journal of Science's Next Wave and is a Contributing Editor for Popular Science magazine.
